Anonymous company of National Interest, created by the law N°38/60 of june 8th 1960, the Banque Gabonaise de Développement (GBD) has taken back the activities of the Gabonese Credit Company (CREDIGABON) constitued on july 1st 1959, after the bursting credit of the French speaking Equatorial Africa of Development (Afrique Equatoriale Française de Développement) created in 1948.
At the time of its constitution in 1960, the capital of the Banque Gabonaise de Développement (GBD) reached to 400 million CFA.Thanks to the subscription new shares:
December 5th 1962: 1 billion franks CFA,
March 16th 1970: 100 million franks CFA,
December 05th 1975: 2820 million franks CFA,
December 13th 1983: 3 billion franks CFA,
February 28th 1989: 3.5 billion franks CFA,
May 28th 1997: 10.5 billion franks CFA,
May 27th 1999: 4.2 billin franks CFA,
This eased capital reaches today 25.2 billion CFA francs and is divided among the holders the following way:

Priviliged instrument of the economical and social development of Gabon, the Banque Gabonaise de Développement (GBD) progressivly implanted itself in the heart of Gabon’s activity.
Finally, in the inner-city were opened:In 1972 in the province of Haut-Ogooué, the Franceville agency
In 1975 in the province of Ogooué –maritime, the Port-gentil agency
In 1993 in the province of Woleu-Ntem, the Oyem agency
In 1998 in the province of Moyen-Ogooué, the Lambaréné agency
In 2002 in the province of Nyanga, the Tchibanga agency
In 2003 in the province of Ngounié, the Mouila agency

MISSIONSThe GBD is one of the oldest financial institutions of Gabon, and the only whose vocation is exclusively social.
It is entitled to bring its technical and financial contest to the realization of any project likely to promote the economic and social development of Gabon.ACTIVITIES
The GBD interferes in two main sectors of activity:
Proper activities:
Grant short, med and long-term loans to particulars, companies and collectives. It interferes as much for loan estate and consumption than for the financement of the investments on the productive sector.
Take part in the capital of the agricultural, industrial and commercial companies.
Grant garanties as a mesure of security.
Activities concerning the third world:
The GBD helps the Gabonese State dealing with:
The loans for the Aid and Garantee Funds of the ministry in charge of the small and medium size companies (FAGA).
Part of the loans and the holding operations of client accounts for the expansion and development of the small and medium size company fund (FODEX). It is also the chosen bank in matters of participating at the dispositives of the FODEX and Small and medium size companies and industries.
The Banque Gabonaise de Développement (GBD) also finances lasting forest development projects minding the troubles related to environmental keep. And, benefits from the support of international partners recognized like the Agence Française de Développement (FDA) and the Banque Européènne d’Investissement (EIB).
All these activities confer to it a priviliged place in the Gabonese banking strucure.
